Bali, August 2026
PT Super Sistem Data (“Super Sistem”) and PT Aplikanusa Lintasarta (“Lintasarta”) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to explore strategic cooperation and business opportunities in submarine cable infrastructure, including potential development opportunities involving the Barat Timur Indonesia-1 (BTI-1) system, which is designed to connect Batam to Manado.
The collaboration comes amid continued growth in Indonesia’s demand for digital connectivity. According to figures cited in the draft from the Asosiasi Penyelenggara Jasa Internet Indonesia (APJII), Indonesia had 229.4 million internet users in 2025, equivalent to 80.66% of the population. Despite this growth, disparities in digital infrastructure remain a challenge, particularly in eastern Indonesia, where equitable access continues to require attention.
Under the MOU, the two companies will explore opportunities to strengthen Indonesia’s national telecommunications backbone through potential cooperation related to the BTI-1 West and BTI-1 East segments. Discussions may include areas such as fiber pairs and wavelengths, with the aim of assessing opportunities that could create value for both businesses and contribute to the continued development of Indonesia’s telecommunications infrastructure.
By combining their respective capabilities and industry expertise, Super Sistem and Lintasarta aim to support more inclusive digital connectivity across Indonesia, including communities and businesses in the eastern part of the country. The proposed cooperation reflects both parties’ commitment to discuss potential opportunities in good faith and in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.
“Digital connectivity is no longer a supplementary need; it is a foundation for national economic growth. Through cooperation with Lintasarta, we want to help ensure that national submarine cable infrastructure is reliable and reaches eastern Indonesia, where more work is needed to improve equitable access,” said Kelvan Firman, President Director of PT Super Sistem Data.
“The continued annual growth in internet users calls for strong and widely available infrastructure throughout Indonesia. Lintasarta views this collaboration as a strategic step to strengthen the national backbone and accelerate the availability of quality digital services in eastern Indonesia,” said Zulfi Hadi, Director of PT Aplikanusa Lintasarta.
This collaboration reaffirms Super Sistem and Lintasarta’s commitment to supporting Indonesia’s vision for equitable digital development, while delivering more inclusive connectivity across all regions of the country.
